Born in Lebanon from Greek parents, Markella had her first encounter with music
at the age of 3 when she performed live on television for a children’s television program.
Markella Panagiotou moved to Greece at the age of 13 and at the age of 15, formed an
acoustic trio the MGM’S, with a playlist from folk rock to classic rock ballads performing
in clubs in Athens, Greece.
In 1989 she collaborated with many Radio producers and Radio Station of ANT1,
one of the major channels in Greece, as a singer for jingles and radio spots for ANT1 Radio.
Was the resident DJ 1991-1999 at Allotria Club in Aghia Paraskevi and at Café de L’Art 1999-2004.
In 1993 she met with Sound engineer Lakis Chalkiopoulos working for Ant1 Radio as a and
together they formed a Band called Jelly Groove an Alternative House project with 3 released
singles one of them “Shine your love on me” released in 1997 was remixed by Eric Kupper,

locally and internationally.
Simulataneously she Joined the publicity world in 1993 and worked with Power Music Production
amongst many other production companies as a lyricist and singer for jingles of major brands
in the advertising industry since 1993, having today a portfolio of more than 300 jingles.

Collaborated with *Kyriakos Moustakas aka “Sundayman” and released a single
“Faded Moments” from the Album Outerland amongst many other side projects and also
for a number of Jingles for Greek TV and Radio. Together with Kyriakos they collaborated
with singer Zoe Papadopoulou for her album “Tatouaz” with Composer Kyriakos Moustakas
where she wrote lyrics for 2 tracks «Σ’ονειρεύομαι συνχά» and co-wrote with Kyriakos
«΄Ανθρωποι μόνοι».
THE ” SOCRATES DRANK THE CONIUM” DAYS
In 1999 she became a Member of “Socrates Drank the conium”, as vocalist that reunited after
almost 20 years, celebrating their comeback with a sold out concert in June 1999 at the
Lycabettus theatre with more than 5,000 people. That was a breakthrough in her musical career
and a great honor for her to be with “Socrates” as she has been a fan of the group from her early
age and also an honor to be a part of this very huge and selected Musicians with whom
she still has strong and family bonds.
The band continued playing all over Greece with many live sessions, ever since until the end
of 2009 amongst many Musicians (Alvin Lee, the band has also performed with TOTO in
July 2008. where Antonis Tourkogiorgis and Giannis Spathas started working on their new album
that was in their thoughts for a while until Antonis Tourkogiorgis suffered a bad clinical condition
in 2010 and the band was unavoidably obligated to stop the making of the record and the
performances altogether. In 2015 Akis Tourkogiorgis (Antonis Brother who has been also
performing with Socrates back in the days) and Giannis Spathas decided to join forces and
make a small tribute to Socrates, with Aki’s Band "The Blue Airways", with Giannis Spathas
as lead Guitarist, Akis Tourkogiorgis (Guitar+ Vox), Makis Gioulis (Drums) Leonidas
Filintas (Bass) and Markella as lead Vocalist. Played at Kyttaro, Athina Live and Eightball
in Thessaloniki with a very warm and nostalgic support from fans.
Member of Almost Funk Band 2008-2010 and the Beatles Live Tribute Band in 2008,
she formed an acoustic trio “Calamity and the Bandidos” w/ Tsourapis Bros,
2011 with George Zikos, for 2 years with ZeroZero Band and in November 2013
she started appearing with Guitarist and Composer Simos Kokavesis.
